The retired SVD's are reading a new book for our book discussion class at the Techny residence. It’s called, “Living Life Backward; How Ecclesiastes Teaches Us to Live in Light of the End. "
Gibson distills the message of Ecclesiastes into one basic point: the only way that anyone can live life rightly is to understand that life ends in death. This message comes as a much-needed word for much of our contemporary Western culture. This life is not all there is and this life is temporary. It is under the sun. It will end. But living with the end in view is the only way to live a fulfilled life. Knowing that death is coming will enable a person to stop “striving after the wind” by trying to achieve wealth, wisdom, power, or happiness for their own sakes since these things come to an end. Real joy and happiness found in embracing life and all that it brings as a gift from our Creator God, who created a good world for His creatures and alone knows how to give the best gifts.
So far we all highly recommend it!
